ALLAH: An Nafi - The Benefactor
Quranic Evidence: “Do they not see that Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed, in that are signs for a people who believe”. (Surat Ar-Rum30:37)
Description: He is the creator of good. He has created man as the best of His creation and He has bestowed upon him gifts which render him unique and superior to the rest of the creation. The One who helps and who grants all advantages. The One who creates all that produces benefit and usefulness. The One who grants all favorable circumstances. The One who confers all benefits. The One who is continually blessing all of creation with goodness and all that is useful. The One through whom all needs are fulfilled.
Of course, we know that idols cannot advantage- they cannot provide us with anything; they cannot increase us in nourishment. But they also cannot destroy or damage because harming is a type of authority that only Allah possess. When Ibrahim tore down all the idols, were the idols able to stand up for themselves? Were they able to defend themselves? No, because they can neither benefit nor harm.
Only Allah is the one that can profit and the one that harms and people may only do so via Allah’s consent. Hearts and situations are in Allah’s hand. If we gain any advantage from anything, if we get benefit from a lecture, or a book, or from the Qur’an, it’s from Allah…opening the doors of hidaya’, opening the doors of guidance for us. If we receive harm from anyone, if Allah closes an opportunity for us, or takes some of our sustenance away, only Allah was able to do so and that was best for us.
“Without struggle, we’d never be able to taste the sweetness of accomplishment. Hang in there for a few more days, weeks, months, or years and inshAllah paradise awaits you.” –Omar Suleiman
